The SURI Editorial Board is responsible for the review and publication of manuscripts submitted to the journal. The journal follows a doube-blind review process, wherein author and referee do not know each other's identities. The decision to accept, reject, or revise-resubmit manuscripts is based on the initial screening of the Editorial Board and the learned recommendation of nominated referees who are expertrs in their respective fields. The Editorial Board shall inform an author about the status of her manuscript, regardless of the outcome of the review process. The Editorial Board reserves the right to reject a manuscript that violates legal provisions on copyright, libel, and originality (plagiarism) or if the manusrcipt is simultaneously being reviewed by another journal or platform. Details about a manuscript under review will be kept confidential until it is finally accepted for publication. The views presented by an author in a published article do not necessarily reflect the views of the members of the Editorial Board. SURI does not charge editorial or processing fees.
Responsibilities of the Referee
A referee is chosen by the Editorial Board based on her academic expertise. A referee will assist the Editorial Board in deciding whether to accept, reject, or revise-resubmit a manuscript by providing objective and expert advice on the academic merits of a manuscript. A referee shall treat the review process with utmost confidentiality and prudence. A referee is responsible for informing the Editorial Board if she suspects that an author has violated legal provisions on copyright, libel, and originality (plagiarism). A referee's assessment of a manuscript should only be based on the academic merits of a manuscript and not on race, gender/sexuality, religious, and political orientation of the author.
Responsibilities of the Author
An author must prepare her manuscript for blind review. An author must ensure that her work does not violated legal provisions on copyright, libel, and originality (plagiarism). Sources used by the author should be properly cited. The author must ensure that the manuscript she submitted to SURI for review is not being simultaneously reviewed by another journal or platform; it is her responsibility to inform the Editorial Board if her manurscript is being considered elsewhere. It the responsibility of the author to address editorial concerns outlined by the Editorial Board during the review process.
